There are moments when a community truly shows what it’s made of. This is one of them.

Over the past few days, the outpouring of kindness, support, and willingness to step up has been nothing short of incredible. Martin and Paula have been deeply moved by the messages and offers of help from people across Middleton, so much so that it’s brought them to tears more than once. It’s a powerful reminder that even in tough times, community spirit is alive and well.
Now, that support is needed more than ever.
This week marks the start of an important effort to restore a place that means so much to so many: the Engine House. The aim is to clear the garden area of rubble so work can begin inside, bringing it back to the place everyone knows and love.

Work will be taking place at the mill on:
Thursday - 2nd April
Friday - 3rd April
Saturday - 4th April
Sunday - 5th April
From 8am to 4pm each day, come along whenever you can. Whether you’ve got an hour or can stay all day, every bit of help will make a real difference so access to the Engine House can start.
If you’re planning to come down, here are a few things to keep in mind:
Please wear safety shoes or sturdy boots if possible
Gloves and masks will be available on site
If you have a wheelbarrow, bringing it along would be a huge help
And just a fair warning, there are currently no working toilets on site
This isn’t just about clearing rubble. It’s about rebuilding something meaningful, together. It’s about neighbours helping neighbours, and a community coming together to restore a place that holds so many memories.
Middleton, you’ve already shown your heart. Now let’s show up, pitch in, and make it happen.
