The RSPCA refuses to step in and secure the safety of a neglected dog in Rochdale.

Updated: 11 hours ago

The RSPCA has been contacted multiple times about a severely neglected dog at a residence on Wycherly Road in Rochdale. Concerned members of the public have reported that the dog is left outside all day and night in various weather conditions, including the current heatwave.

The dog, possibly a Jack Russell, has been reported living and sleeping amidst a heap of rubbish and other hazardous items, tethered on a short rope without access to shelter. It is thought that the dog is being provided with food and water, which is the sole reason the RSPCA has not intervened, despite clear signs of neglect.

The community are now uniting to help save the dog, with many offering to provide it with a loving new home. Photos shared on social media show the dog appearing to have an injury to its left paw, as it frequently holds it up, but no one has been able to examine it closely.

People need to understand that the RSPCA are not there to help abused and neglected animals as seen in the past. They only help when it suits them this is a charity that is taking public funds but not doing what the charity has been setup for.

In 2023, the RSPCA reported a total income of £151,622,308. This includes income from donations and legacies (£130.18m), charitable activities (£9.29m), other trading activities (£4.53m), and investments (£3.90m).

It's time we hold this charity accountable, as they are also responsible for abusing animals and failing to ensure their safety. In the past, the RSPCA has caused harm and suffering to numerous animals, including when they shot and killed 11 healthy horses. The charity culled animals that were 'bright, alert, and responsive' and continued to claim veterinary and stable fees months after their deaths.

An RSPCA spokesperson said: "Unfortunately for legal reasons we are unable to discuss specific allegations and what action may have been taken. We know this is frustrating but we must comply with the law. We always look into any complaints that are made to us about animal welfare and we're extremely grateful when people report concerns to us. A lot of the time issues will be dealt with by advice and education or appropriate statutory organisations, and it is not always appropriate to publicise this information for legal reasons."
