A growing community effort to restore the historic Lodge Mill is calling on local businesses to lend their support, as organisers continue vital work to preserve and revitalise the site for future generations.

The restoration project has already seen encouraging progress, driven by dedicated volunteers and supporters who are passionate about protecting the area’s heritage. However, to maintain momentum and move into the next phase of development, additional resources and practical support are urgently needed.

Organisers have identified several key items and services that would make a significant difference to the ongoing work. These include:

  • Hand tools such as brick hammers, screwdrivers, and general-purpose equipment

  • Large plant pots to enhance and develop the garden areas

  • Garden tools to support landscaping work around historic Cheapside

  • Assistance with roller shutter repairs

  • Toilets and hand basins for future on-site facilities

  • Lime mortar for heritage-appropriate restoration

  • A cement mixer to aid construction efforts

Support from the business community, whether through donations, loans, or professional services, would directly contribute to the preservation of this important local landmark. Every contribution, large or small, helps bring Lodge Mill closer to becoming a fully restored and usable space for the community.

This is an opportunity for businesses to play a hands-on role in safeguarding local history while demonstrating meaningful community engagement. Organisers welcome any offers of assistance and are keen to collaborate with those who can help move the project forward.

Businesses interested in supporting the Lodge Mill restoration are encouraged to get in touch and become part of a project that is not only restoring a building, but also strengthening community pride and heritage.
