Employees and contractors of Maysand LTD are not adhering to Health and Safety regulations and guidelines while working at the Hopwood Hall Estate site.

Hopwood Hall Estate, a Grade II* listed manor house with 26 rooms located in Middleton, Manchester, was assigned to Maysand LTD by Rochdale Council for roof work. which will include the following at Hopwood Hall Estate " Re-roofing and repair works, gutter and rainwater goods, as well as repointing/façade works to the southern and eastern wings" further to these works will also see installation of three separate receptor bat boxes on nearby trees.
Hopwood Hall Estate currently has Bats roosting in the roof and therefore a Licence has been granted by Natural England which will expire in 2030. during these roof repairs Maysand LTD must adhere to the licence requirements which involves placing bat boxes in the area since bats are a protected species.
Once the roof is complete there will be added Bat roosts inside the roof with an exit/entrance as seen in the plans below.

Regrettably, employees and contractors at Maysand LTD are not complying with on-site health and safety guidelines and regulations. This includes not wearing hard hats when near scaffolding or working on the roof. Additionally, employees are observed not using eye protection while operating a bladed power saw to cut roof slates or face masks.

In one photo, you can clearly see another employee shielding his face with his hand while the worker next to him operates a bladed power saw. It is understood that a complaint was filed with Maysand regarding health and safety concerns. The complainant was told that the health and safety officer from Maysand would provide an update but has not yet made contact. It was stated that the officer, or alternatively the company director, would call the complainant on Monday, July 21st, but the call has still not been made.
The complainant has notified us that a report regarding the working conditions at the Site on Hopwood Hall Estate was submitted to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
There are additional concerns about Maysand LTD employees on-site, such as criminal damage and the use of property not owned by them. However, due to the ongoing legal dispute we are not able to share these concerns in full details.
