Teenager Arrested After E-Scooter Collision Involving Mother and Baby in Middleton

Police were called to reports of a collision involving an electric Siron scooter and a mother pushing a baby on Rochdale Road in Middleton.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police attended the scene alongside the ambulance service. The mother sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics. The baby was assessed as a precaution and was found to be unharmed.
The rider of the electric scooter, a 16-year-old boy, also received medical treatment for an injury. During police enquiries, officers recovered a machete from him.
The teenager was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place. He remains in police custody while enquiries continue.
A spokesperson for GMP stated:
Officers attended reports of a collision involving an electric Siron scooter and a mother and baby. The mother received minor injuries, while the baby was assessed and found to be unharmed. Both were checked over by the ambulance service at the scene.
The rider of the scooter, a 16‑year‑old boy, also received treatment from paramedics for a injury. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place after officers recovered a machete from him.
