A fire that broke out in a storage unit on Wednesday, June 18th, around 4:50 pm is being brought under control by firefighters who have been working tirelessly for three days.

On Friday, June 20, 2025, firefighters are gradually gaining control over the fire but remain unable to enter the building due to safety risks. Meetings have been held between the Storage World owners, local authorities, and Rochdale Council, resulting in the decision to demolish part of the building to allow firefighters to safely address the fire inside.
Once the fire is extinguished, The entire building would be demolished as it now presents a danger to the public. A crane has arrived on-site to begin the demolition process.
